This is a natural quality for a woman of Irish descent, who was surrounded in her early years by talented relatives and parents. Maureen came to this loving haven, August 17, 1920. She was raised by the family of her parents. The mother of Maureen, Marguerita Lililburn FitzSimons a skilled contralto. Charles FitzSimons was a successful businessman from Dublin who also controlled a portion of the Irish soccer team Shamrock Rovers. Maureen was the second child of six FitzSimons children - Peggy, Florrie, Charles B. Fitzsimons, Margot Fitzsimons and James O'Hara completed this beautiful family. Maureen excelled as a sportswoman and participated in rough, competitive sports when she was a young. This interest was combined with a natural talent for performance. She was the recipient of nearly every Feis awards for her native country's drama and theatre performances is a testimony to this.
